The Wrestling Estate Fantasy Draft: Round 10

Kota Ibushi finally gets selected.

What if all the top wrestling companies in the world got together and said, “let’s blow the whole thing up and start from scratch?”

Eleven companies will then rise from the ashes, having a draft to determine how the best talent in the world will be divided up for the foreseeable future.

The draft will be conducted through email – 12 rounds. As far as the talent pool goes, all active wrestlers are available. Part-timers are usable, semi-retired wrestlers are not. (So Brock Lesnar and John Cena are fair game, Triple H, Undertaker and HBK are not.) For the purposes of this simulation, we will assume Roman Reigns does NOT have leukemia and Joey Janela’s leg is NOT broken. Some wrestlers can be taken as tag teams, but the caveat is that you have to use them in the same match.

At the end of the draft, we will also have a bonus 13th “legends” round, where you can draft one legend to appear on your show in any way you see fit. The only rule here is that the legend has to be in their present-day form, so you can’t get, for instance, Shawn Michaels from 1997. You won’t be able to draft Chris Jericho, though, as he will be able to appear on any of your shows without having to use a draft pick on him, kind of like as he does in real life, almost like a free space in bingo.

At the end of the draft, you will then submit a “2-3 hour” pay-per-view card to show how your talent would work together in your fictional wrestling company. We’ll run Twitter polls to let readers vote on who has the best roster and who created the most entertaining PPV.

John Corrigan
SHOOT
Draft Pick #100: Jason Jordan
Out of action for almost a year, Jason Jordan has been recuperating and rebuilding into a supreme wrestling machine. After all, the man signed an NCAA Division I scholarship to wrestle for Indiana University, where he was ranked Top 15 in the nation three consecutive years. In his senior year, Jordan went undefeated in the regular season at 35-0, earning him a ranking of second best wrestler in the nation. He finished 38-3, completing his wrestling career with 89 victories, a runner-up finish at the 2010 Big Ten Tournament and three trips to the NCAA Championships.

I’ll be reuniting him with Chad Gable.

Jenna Leigh
Sparkle Female Superstars
Draft Pick #101: Rhea Ripley
The current NXT UK Women’s champion and Mae Young Classic competitor is young, talented…and hungry. A hard worker, Ripley is extremely competitive, extremely ambitious and most important: extremely CAPABLE. She will be a fantastic addition to the SWS Roster- the veterans will guide her and in due time she’ll be a dynamic ring general.

Jack Goodwillie
World Series of Wrestling
Draft Pick #102: Brian Pillman Jr.
Some say Brian Pillman Jr. is a spitting image of his father. Funny thing is, he had no aspirations to join the wrestling business until much later in life when he finally got a glimpse of his dad’s work and decided to follow in his footsteps. Come next February, he’ll have been wrestling for two years, but he’s already made the strides and connections needed to have a long, self-sustaining career. In layman’s terms, the future is sky high, but I want to give Pillman the tools to continue to grow and eventually one day become King of the Strip, which is why I am going to be teaming him with none other than… Dolph Ziggler. Both wrestlers have a similar enough look to where they can really make an old school rock n’ roll tag team and compete for the belts right away. Plus, Dolph is such a veteran now and such an in-ring technician that it could help Pillman’s career in spades to work with him, before the inevitable break up in the distant future. Btw, it’s so weird to be using the name “Pillman” in the present tense. I kind of love it.

Team LeftJab
Gotham Championship Wrestling
Draft Pick #103: Sammy Guevara
Young, arrogant, athletic and a high flyer – he’s a contrast in style that will make some great matches with the talent already on the roster. Guevara is a great talker as well.

Chad Gelfand
Professional Wrestling Association (PWA)
Draft Pick #104: Cedric Alexander
My last pick was a member of 205 Live and so is my next pick. Cedric Alexander is another one of those versatile wrestlers who could easily make the transition from cruiserweight to the heavyweight division. Alexander’s explosive and exciting style would be a welcome addition to the PWA roster.

Neal Wagner
Anarchy Wrestling
Draft Pick #105: Kota Ibushi
Ibushi is the current NEVER Openweight Champion and appears to have finally found a way on his own while still being alongside Omega. Ibushi proved throughout the G1 that he is one of the very best wrestlers in wrestling. He is finally getting what he deserves and can only go even more up to the mountain top from there. He can give the best matches on any card with any opponent in front of him.

Steven Jackson
International Association Wrestling
Draft Pick #106: Ethan Page
Everybody loves a bad guy and you won’t find a heel better in the business today than “All Ego” Ethan Page. Technically sound and great at antagonizing a crowd, Ethan Page will cause chaos for all involved in IAW!

Sam Gladen
Deep South Wrestling
Draft Pick #107: Xia Brookside
One of the most impressive people to be brought to my attention through NXT UK, Xia’s combo of hard striking and high-flying ability makes her a perfect fit for DSW.

Juan Bautista
Global Championship Wrestling
Draft Pick #108: Tyler Breeze
All promotions need a little flashiness and who better to provide that than Prince Pretty? If his NXT cameo proved anything, he still has all the potential in the world.

Calvin Gibbon
Champagne Championship Wrestling
Draft Pick #109: Hideo Itami
He’s a vicious in-ring tactician and underrated showman. As of late, Kenta has been packaged all wrong by WWE brass and due to a few unfortunate injuries, he hasn’t had the chance to change that. In Champagne, he’ll be that ruthless, cocky, obnoxious competitor we know he can be. Make a wrong move or play into his game…you may have to Go To Sleep!

Anthony Mahalis
World Wrestling Syndicate
Draft Pick #110: Sami Zayn
He has never gotten a real shot and I think he deserves one. He can tear the house down when given the opportunity, instead of being poorly booked as a goofy heel.

The 11th round begins Wednesday.
