The Wrestling Estate Fantasy Draft: Round 11

PCO is off the board!

What if all the top wrestling companies in the world got together and said, “let’s blow the whole thing up and start from scratch?”

Eleven companies will then rise from the ashes, having a draft to determine how the best talent in the world will be divided up for the foreseeable future.

The draft will be conducted through email – 12 rounds. As far as the talent pool goes, all active wrestlers are available. Part-timers are usable, semi-retired wrestlers are not. (So Brock Lesnar and John Cena are fair game, Triple H, Undertaker and HBK are not.) For the purposes of this simulation, we will assume Roman Reigns does NOT have leukemia and Joey Janela’s leg is NOT broken. Some wrestlers can be taken as tag teams, but the caveat is that you have to use them in the same match.

At the end of the draft, we will also have a bonus 13th “legends” round, where you can draft one legend to appear on your show in any way you see fit. The only rule here is that the legend has to be in their present-day form, so you can’t get, for instance, Shawn Michaels from 1997. You won’t be able to draft Chris Jericho, though, as he will be able to appear on any of your shows without having to use a draft pick on him, kind of like as he does in real life, almost like a free space in bingo.

At the end of the draft, you will then submit a “2-3 hour” pay-per-view card to show how your talent would work together in your fictional wrestling company. We’ll run Twitter polls to let readers vote on who has the best roster and who created the most entertaining PPV.

Anthony Mahalis
World Wrestling Syndicate
Draft Pick #111: Tye Dillinger
He is more of a project pick for me. He really had the crowd behind him in NXT and at the beginning of his promotion to the main roster. So, I am going to see if I can get the most out of him. Worst case scenario – I have a very solid midcarder.

Calvin Gibbon
Champagne Championship Wrestling
Draft Pick #112: John Morrison
Underutilized and underrated, John Morrison is in a league all by himself athletically. He’s without a doubt one of the most glamorous wrestlers in the world. When the gloves are off and it’s time to throw down, JoMo is one of the best wrestlers in the world today. With all of this in mind, we welcome John Morrison to Champagne Championship Wrestling.

Juan Bautista
Global Championship Wrestling
Draft Pick #113: Bad Luck Fale
The Underboss. At times an underrated wrestler, he is a solid performer and can do great things.

Sam Gladen
Deep South Wrestling
Draft Pick #114: RUSH
The head of the international wrestling faction Los Ingobernables, RUSH brings a certain star power and excitement to any ring that he graces with his presence. DSW will be no different.

Steven Jackson
International Association Wrestling
Draft Pick #115: Mia Yim
I’ve had the privilege of following Mia Yim’s career from the beginning on the indies, and today, she is definitely one of the greatest pro wrestlers on the planet. Versatile as a babyface or heel, as well as a brilliant technician, Mia Yim will continue to grow on her success in IAW.

Neal Wagner
Anarchy Wrestling
Draft Pick #116: “THE REAL WORLD CHAMPION” Matt Taven
The Leader of The Kingdom has done nothing but stir controversy since October by presenting his own world championship. Taven has held every title in ROH except for the world title. His time will come. Taven brings charisma, athleticism and a cocky attitude, presenting himself as the brashest character in all of wrestling today. “I do what I want because I’MMMMMMMMMMM MATT TAVEN.”

Chad Gelfand
Professional Wrestling Association (PWA)
Draft Pick #117: Donovan Dijak (Now Dominik Dijakovick in NXT)
We need some size in PWA, but we also want our big guys to be athletic and Dijak fits that description to a tee. Standing at 6’7, Dijak is a giant of a man while also displaying incredible athleticism. He will be a welcome addition to the PWA roster.

Team LeftJab
Gotham Championship Wrestling
Draft Pick #118: Nick Gage
Not the greatest wrestler, but badass to the core and has a cult-like fan base on the East Coast. Won’t be in the title hunt most of the time, but a definite trouble maker and feud starter with anyone on the roster.

Jack Goodwillie
World Series of Wrestling
Draft Pick #119: PCO
How many guys can you say have had not one, but two primes in their career? PCO, Pierre Carl Ouellet, wrestled as one-half of the Quebecers, AND as Jean Pierre Lafitte, under which persona he had a real sleeper match with Bret Hart back in the early 90’s. Now he’s back again as PCO, and his body type and demeanor in the ring has totally changed. He’s almost unrecognizable, but back in his days as a pirate, do you know who he reminded me of the most? Kevin Owens, who trained under PCO’s tag partner Jacques Rougeau and grew up just down the road in Marieville. So naturally, that’s who PCO’s dance partner is going to be in the World Series of Wrestling. I’m not investing in him to be a workhorse. He’s 50 years old, though judging by his physical condition, it looks like he could have another decade left in him. Rather, I’m investing in him to be a foil for Owens, who PCO was once so much like, while Owens, obsessed with the man PCO used to be, will try to do what many have tried to do and failed: kill a Frankenstein, a French-Canadian one at that.

Jenna Leigh
Sparkle Female Superstars
Draft Pick #120: Rosemary
Rosemary is an anomaly in modern women’s wrestling. In a world of extensions, false eyelashes and boob jobs, she dares to be completely and utterly different. She embraces her “dark side,” and in the ring she’s sharp, agile and unshakable. She is an asset in numerous ways.

John Corrigan
SHOOT
Draft Pick #121: Jake Hager
Since leaving WWE in 2017, the athlete formerly known as Jack Swagger has reinvented himself, fully embracing his collegiate wrestling roots. In addition to competing for Lucha Underground, MLW and various independent promotions, Jake Hager has signed with Bellator MMA as part of its heavyweight division. His first fight is slated for January, and chances are he’ll make a much better first impression than CM Punk. After all, Hager was a 2006 Collegiate All-American and holds the single-season record for most pins in the 285-pound weight class at the University of Oklahoma.

The 12th round takes place Friday.
