Fantasy PPV: International Wrestling Association

AJ Styles, Rey Fenix and Viper collide in the main event.

What if all the top wrestling companies in the world got together and said, “let’s blow the whole thing up and start from scratch?”

Eleven companies will then rise from the ashes, having a draft to determine how the best talent in the world will be divided up for the foreseeable future.

The draft will be conducted through email – 12 rounds. As far as the talent pool goes, all active wrestlers are available. Part-timers are usable, semi-retired wrestlers are not. (So Brock Lesnar and John Cena are fair game, Triple H, Undertaker and HBK are not.) Some wrestlers can be taken as tag teams, but the caveat is that you have to use them in the same match.

At the end of the draft, we will also have a bonus 13th “legends” round, where you can draft one legend to appear on your show in any way you see fit. The only rule here is that the legend has to be in their present-day form, so you can’t get, for instance, Shawn Michaels from 1997. You won’t be able to draft Chris Jericho, though, as he will be able to appear on any of your shows without having to use a draft pick on him, kind of like as he does in real life, almost like a free space in bingo.

At the end of the draft, you will then submit a “2-3 hour” pay-per-view card to show how your talent would work together in your fictional wrestling company. We’ll run Twitter polls to let readers vote on who has the best roster and who created the most entertaining PPV.

You can find all of Steven Jackson’s draft picks here.

International Wrestling Association presents its inaugural event live from Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Mike Tenay, Renee Young and Colt Cabana are on commentary. William Regal is running the show.

IAW Tag Team Crown
Reo Hazuki and Ethan Page vs. Haku and Kelly Klein

To kick off IAW’s first ever event, let’s start with a clash of styles tag team match. There is no prior history between these combatants, but there will be once this match is over. The Tag Crown celebrates the variety and unpredictable side of IAW. After a hard-fought 15 minute battle, it comes down to Reo Hazuki and Haku. It looks an open and shut case, but Reo Hazuki’s speed and technical skill keeps her in the fight, and she is able to topple Haku to win the first ever IAW Tag Crown for her and Ethan Page!

Submission Match
Mia Yim vs. Kobra Moon
IAW’s next contest is a staple of pro wrestling…a submission match! Shaking the Budokan Hall to its core, this submission battle was relentless from the opening bell! Both women threw everything they had at one another, but in the end, after a 20-minute war, Mia Yim’s intensity took over. In a moment of gruesome genius, she wrapped Kobra Moon in a Boston Crab through the turnbuckles via the apron, forcing Moon to submit.

Jonah Rock vs. YAMATO
This is a dream match between two amazing wrestlers from both sides of the world. The crowd was solidly behind their national hero YAMATO, but Jonah Rock was not intimidated. Instead, the “Monster” used his size and strength to decimate YAMATO around the ring, scaring all the fans in sight. YAMATO gave Jonah everything he had, and even had some close falls, but sadly, at around the 10-minute mark, YAMATO was defeated.

Steel Cage Match
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Bea Priestley
The eyes of the fans were glued to the ring for this awesome spectacle between two of the world’s finest. Cocky Zack thought it was going to be an easy ride. How wrong he was! Bea Priestley didn’t give Zack an inch, enduring everything Zack threw at her. Yet, in the end, Zack’s technical precision paid off when he targeted Priestley’s arms to the point that she was unable to climb the cage. A bloody and battered Zack slowly climbed out, ending a nearly 30-minute war!

IAW Single’s Crown
Double-Elimination Three Way Dance
AJ Styles vs. Rey Fenix vs. Viper
The action is non-stop from start to finish in this outstanding main-event. Some of the many highlights include Viper impressively picking up both Styles and Fenix for a double slam and a close two-count, Fenix diving to the outside and into the crowd hitting AJ with a beautiful tope, and AJ delivering an inverted DDT onto Viper from the outside. Budokan Hall was brought to its feet when, after pinning Viper with a Styles Clash, AJ landed a vicious Bloody Sunday DDT in the middle of the ring onto Rey Fenix, at the 45-minute mark, to win the IAW Singles Crown!

After shaking hands with both Rey Fenix and Viper, AJ Styles was awarded the IAW Single’s Crown by IAW President William Regal. As confetti and streamers flooded the Budokan Hall, Zack Sabre Jr. made his way to the ring and confronted Styles about being his first challenger. Zack was closely followed by Jonah Rock, who also proclaimed why he deserved a shot. Then, to the shock of all IAW fans, Mia Yim stood on the entrance pleading for a shot at the IAW Single’s Crown. The show then closed with a shot of AJ Styles contemplating his next move in IAW!
