Synergy Presents Hottest Show Of The Summer

Heatseekers will feature a clash of Synergy’s two biggest villains.

The two biggest villains in the history of Synergy Pro Wrestling will clash this Saturday at an event aptly titled “Heatseekers.”

Frightmare, the current and only two-time Synergy Champion, was despised by the fans from the New Jersey-based promotion’s inception in September of 2017 until January of 2019. His name says it all – he’s out to terrorize. Before and during each match, the masked menace would scream and snarl at the audience, getting right up in children’s faces. His intensity radiated throughout the Polish Falcons Nest, battering the popular Drake Chambers in a dog collar clash and then a ladder match at Black Saturday, which was voted Match of the Year by Synergy fans.

Each grueling performance earned Frightmare more respect. His natural ability, consistency and tenacity was appreciated in the blue-collar towns of Manville and Hillsborough. When he won the Synergy Championship the first time at Synergy 8, the crowd didn’t boo. Sure, they were excited to witness the first title change in company history, but they also recognized that his hard work had paid off.

And just like that, it was taken away. While Frightmare was sidelined, Macintosh won the vacated title in a match with Ace Austin. The Bad Apple exhaled hubris, irritating the fans by acting like he was the rightful champion. He lied, cheated and stole victories without the charm of Eddie Guerrero. And even though Frightmare wasn’t Mr. Nice Guy, he never took a shortcut. Putting his coveted mask on the line, he finally vanquished Macintosh and took back his gold at Black Friday.

“My competitive side never changed,” Frightmare told The Wrestling Estate in March. “I’ve always wanted to be the top guy in a company and put on 10-star matches. Fans appreciate talent when they see it. Even when I was 100% evil, they were still applauding. It’s cool to see them now with open arms, especially after I’ve made half the kids in that audience cry.”

Then, there’s Brandon Kirk.

The Rogue wreaked havoc throughout the promotion’s first year in business, attacking staff and even a teenage boy during his feud with then-creative director Colin West. The CZW standout was built up as Synergy’s top villain, but after missing a show in November of 2018 due to a double booking, West said he had no choice but to fire Kirk.

A lot has changed since then. West is now the owner of Synergy and has named Nicholas Kaye as his replacement. Vowing to “throw some grenades and see what happens,” Kaye reinstated Kirk for the inaugural Garden State Invitational, where he lost in the first round to Warhorse. Since then, he has built a ton of momentum, almost defeating Rhino until Bill Alfonso interfered, almost winning the Best of the Light Heavyweights, avenging that loss by beating Homicide in a street fight and then defeating Matt Macintosh and Eric Corvis in the same night to become the number-one contender.

Considering Kirk the “anti-guy,” West’s worst nightmare is if the Synergy Championship ends up around his waist.

“I’ll be very blunt, I don’t really want him winning,” West says. “I could very easily make sure Brandon doesn’t win this match and could have very easily made sure he wasn’t in this match, but the integrity of the company is more important than what I want. Nobody wants to see the promoter get involved and screw up the finish. So, I won’t do it.”

The Cruiserweight Crown will also be on the line at Synergy Pro Wrestling’s “Heatseekers” as TJ Crawford makes his first defense against Whisper. However, that match could turn into a triple threat, if Kasey Catal says so. She was scheduled to compete for the crown at the GSI in July, but pulled out of the match after running “a really high, non-COVID fever,” according to West. Because she’s the de facto number-one contender, West has allowed her to insert herself in any Cruiserweight Crown match – Synergy’s version of Money in the Bank, if you will.

Just as significant as a championship defense, Synergy Pro Wrestling’s “Heatseekers” will feature Gacy’s Last Stand: Joe Gacy vs. Archadia.

A 14-year veteran of the mat, Gacy has embarked upon a farewell tour of sorts, competing at promotions in the tri-state area near and dear to his heart. West refused to comment on Gacy’s future, but it’s safe to assume the EVOLVE standout will be moving to greener pastures. “If you’re a fan of seeing Joe Gacy in New Jersey and the surrounding area, this is one to come to,” West says.

“Gacy has been a rock around here. He’s so damn reliable and dependable and kind to the business. I don’t know anybody that has a bad word to say about him. When he walks through the curtain, he’s a believable badass and an exceptionally technically gifted bruiser. Whatever he gets in his career and life, everything is well earned and well deserved.”

Also scheduled for Heatseekers:

LSG vs. Matt Macintosh
Matt Vertigo vs. Kip Stevens vs. Lucky 13 vs. Joey Silver vs. Jason Sinclair
Anthony Gangone vs. Desean Pratt vs. MV Young vs. Eric Corvis
KTB vs. Bobby Orlando
Ellis Taylor vs. Charles Mason

The event will take place outdoors. VIP seats are sold out. Fans interested in attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair. Face masks are required. A cash bar will also be available.

Synergy Pro Wrestling’s “Heatseekers” takes place August 29 outside the Polish Falcons Nest in Hillsborough, NJ.
