A look inside the 2022 ECWA Women’s Super 8 tournament

It’s that time of the year again. The ECWA Women’s Super 8 tournament is back again at the World Famous Monster Factory on August 6th but it seems as though it’s been held hostage.

After Erica Leigh entered the (typically) Men’s Super 8 this year, most of the ECWA fanbase applauded that decision as a step in the right direction. However, after her match with Killian McMurphy at Heat Stroke, Killian grabbed the microphone to announce himself as the next entrant. Judging by the faces of the officials at ringside, it seemed to catch everyone off guard. Almost as though he had held the show hostage. Since then, Killian, the winner of the 2021 Super 8, has made remarks at how “honored” he is to compete in the event, but you can’t help but feel he is being condescending.

Despite the Killian sized cloud hanging over the event, the field this year is as impressive as it gets with a mix of longtime favorites and newcomers alike. Let’s take a look at the other participants in this years tournament.

Adena Steele

Fresh off her debut in last years tournament, Adena has more experience and has worked for almost every major promotion in the region the last few months. It can’t be doubted the magnification that the Super 8 brings to your career and if you need proof, look no further than Adena Steele. In the last several months she has gone off and captured a number of championships in various promotions and the Super 8 trophy would be the cherry on top for her 2022 year.

Mother Endless
A student of the CZW school, with perhaps the most unique look out of everyone in the tournament. Endless has made no qualms about needing to win this tournament and doesn’t care how she has to do it or what toes she needs to step on in her path for the trophy.

Bonesaw Brooks
No stranger to ECWA, Bonesaw is looking to mount a Rocky-style comeback and last all three rounds with impressive victories to put her on top of the ECWA and the Independent wrestling mountain. After some time away from the sport, Bonesaw is eager to show that she is ready and capable of going the distance.

Cosmic

Out of the Battleground Academy in New York, Cosmic’s trainers include former ECWA World champion “Colossal” Mike Law, a former 2x Super 8 competitor himself. “Your favorite” Cosmic is hoping to accomplish a feat that not even her own trainer could do…win the most prestigious tournament in Women’s wrestling.

Riley Shepard
Last year’s Super 8 may have been won by Megan Bayne, but the crowd left remembering Erica Leigh. Riley is certainly not a long shot, but win or lose we have a feeling the fans in Paulsboro will go home remembering her.

Abby Jane
After nearly defeating 2020’s Super 8 winner A Very Good Professional Wrestler in his final match, Abby Jane has the momentum and the ring awareness to go the distance in this one. There is a reason why Avery Good chose her specifically for his last match and we will see why on August 6th!

Jordan Blade

We are calling it now. This is Jordan Blade’s year. Our track record with Super 8’s has been really good and you’ve heard it here first, the winner of the 2022 Women’s Super 8 will be Jordan Blade.

On commentary for this event, will be Brady Hicks as well as Kaia McKenna who was replaced last year by Megan Bayne, who went on to win the entire tournament.

Tickets for this years event are on sale now, but it is a capacity restricted event so be sure to grab them now. Once tickets are sold out your only way to watch the event will be live on Youtube.com/ecwa1967
