Feast Or Famine At Black Friday

Synergy Champion Matt Macintosh puts his title on the line against Frightmare’s mask.

History will be made this Friday night as either a new champion will be crowned or the most dangerous luchador will be unmasked.

The feud between Matt Macintosh and Frightmare started in March, when the “Bad Apple” brought new meaning to sudden death, interfering after time expired in the Iron Man match between Frightmare and Joe Gacy. Seeking vengeance, Frightmare issued a title shot to Macintosh in April, but was pulled from the bout due to a fractured elbow and subsequently stripped of the belt. Macintosh capitalized, defeating Ace Austin to win the vacant championship.

Frightmare didn’t return to action until the Garden State Invitational (GSI) in July. After a grueling back-and-forth battle, he and Macintosh brawled all over the Polish Falcon’s Nest, forcing the referee to disqualify both men. The only way Frightmare could get another shot at the title he never lost was to outlast five other competitors in a six-way elimination match at Synergy’s second anniversary show in September. Ultimately, Frightmare finished off MV Young with Kneecolepsy, his signature standing moonsault double knee drop – the same move that won him the title in January.

Arguably the most despised wrestler during Synergy’s first year, Frightmare has earned the respect of the fans over the past eight months. His intensity, resiliency and gutsy performances have won over the Hillsborough crowd, as evidenced by the ovation he received at the GSI. He’ll need as much support as possible heading into Black Friday, when faces the longest-reigning Synergy Champion in company history. Macintosh has turned back the challenges of Jeff Cannonball, Logan Black, even Terra Calaway, and has shown he’s willing to stoop to any low to keep the gold. In order for Macintosh to part with his most prized possession, Frightmare will have to risk his own.

It’s more than a mask – it’s the luchador’s identity. Who – or what – is Frightmare? We may find out this Friday.

After their epic unsanctioned fight in September, bitter rivals TJ Crawford and Aaron Bradley will wage war one last time in a Last Man Standing match. “These are two dudes who are hungry for it and have elevated each other,” Synergy owner Colin West told The Wrestling Estate. “I’ve got people from other countries who care about their feud.”

Speaking of masks, Mike Del may have made the biggest mistake of his life by going undercover to attack Matt Tremont, costing him the Synergy Championship. As a matter of fact, Del is responsible for preventing Tremont from getting a single victory in Synergy this year. The death match legend even came up short against Del in a “Fans Bring the Weapons” brawl. Haunting Del since May, Tremont makes his return this Friday and aims for revenge in an old-school chain match.

A Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) tradition will be resurrected this Friday as Synergy presents the “Best of the Light Heavyweights.” It’s an all-star lineup featuring X-Division Champion Ace Austin, MLW’s Jordan Oliver, House of Glory Heavyweight Champion Anthony Gangone, the notorious Brandon Kirk, former JAPW Light Heavyweight Champion Archadia and the legendary Homicide.

In a grudge match, Eric Corvis will get his hands on ex-friend LSG, who stunned the wrestling world in September with his merciless actions.

In other matches announced, Joe Gacy meets Logan Black and MV Young in a triple threat and Leyla Hirsch takes on DL Hurst in a rematch from Beyond Wrestling’s Americanrana 2019.

Balck Friday takes place November 29 at the Polish Falcon’s Nest in Hillsborough, NJ.
