ROH Death Before Dishonor Preview

A gang war is coming to Sin City this Friday.

One of Ring of Honor’s biggest events of the year returns to Las Vegas this weekend. Death Before Dishonor has a rich history of classic confrontations and bloody mayhem, from The Second City Saints battling the Briscoe Brothers to CZW’s invasion to Lance Storm receiving a hero’s welcome in Toronto.

Last year, two titles changed hands as Kenny King slayed Kushida for the ROH World Television Championship and the Motor City Machine Guns thwarted The Young Bucks. This year’s card is shaping up to be just as epic:

Bullet Club vs. CHAOS

Two of the most popular factions in the history of NJPW will go head to head in a huge ten man tag match. Led by Cody, the Bullet Club is represented by Marty Scurll, Hangman Page and The Young Bucks. Led by Kazuchika Okada, CHAOS is represented by Trent Beretta, Chuckie T, Tomohiro Ishii and Rocky Romero. Now the only active feud between these groups is Scurll vs. Okada, and if they find themselves in the ring at the same time on Friday night, it will serve as a rematch from “All In.”

Sumie Sakai (c) vs. Tenille Dashwood

Sumie Sakai is a legend in women’s wrestling as well as the first Women of Honor World Champion, having held the title for 200+ days thus far. Meanwhile, Dashwood (formerly Emma in WWE) has been positioned as the new face of the Women of Honor division. Sakai holds a victory over Dashwood from the semi-finals of the championship tournament, and that loss has certainly stuck in the latter’s craw.

“I respect you as the foundation of the Women of Honor,” Dashwood told Sakai at the tapings. “But just because I respect you, doesn’t mean I won’t take the title from you.”

Punishment Martinez (c) vs. Chris Sabin

Punishment Martinez has been on the rise since winning the ROH World Television Championship at Proving Ground in June. His challenger Chris Sabin earned the title shot by beating former champion Silas Young on the August 4th edition of ROH TV.

The Briscoes (c) vs. The Addiction

With a combined 1,000 days as ROH Tag Team Champions, the Briscoes (Jay and Mark) will defend their titles against The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian). Of course, Daniels and Kazarian are two-thirds of SoCal Uncensored, one of the longest-running factions in ROH and one of the most successful tag teams in wrestling, winning six championships in three different promotions. The Addiction have been without the ROH Tag Team Titles since September of 2016, when they were defeated by The Young Bucks.

Jay Lethal (c) vs. Will Ospreay

On the September 17th edition of ROH TV, Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal issued a “Lethal Challenge,” allowing anyone who felt they deserved a title shot to come out and say so. Will Ospreay, who hadn’t appeared on ROH TV since earlier this year, responded with a promo over the video board challenging Lethal to a match at Death Before Dishonor.

ROH Death Before Dishonor airs LIVE from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 9 p.m. EST on traditional cable and satellite Pay-Per-View providers, and streaming free for HonorClub VIP, 50% off for HonorClub Standard members and through FITE TV.
