AEW is undefeated so far against NXT in 2020, and after NXT TakeOver: Portland put on one hell of a show, AEW Revolution looks to top that in Chicago. The storylines leading into the pay-per-view have been solid and a few of them are reaching the boiling point. Let’s break down how this card could possibly look in the Windy City.

Darby Allen vs. Sammy Guevara

While the build to this has been slow, the match itself is going to be anything but. Darby has distanced himself from the rest of the AEW roster with his unique look and in-ring style. Meanwhile, Sammy has been a little lost in the shuffle. He may be in Jericho’s Inner Circle, but the wins haven’t exactly been piling up. Sammy started this feud by slamming Darby’s skateboard into his throat and hasn’t thought much of Allen since. That could be his biggest mistake because all Darby has thought of is Guevara. Too focused on helping his Inner Circle, I see the same happening here with Darby picking up the win.

Jake Hager vs. Dustin Rhodes

I can’t wait to see Jake Hager back in a wrestling ring. Following his MMA journey, he has been nothing but dominant and I don’t see that changing on Saturday. AEW has done a wonderful job of painting Hager as a monster heel; he doesn’t say much, just attacks whenever Jericho tells him to. WWE should take notes – not everyone needs a mic in their hands. Dustin is fighting for revenge here after Jake broke his arm in a car door. Unfortunately for The Natural, I don’t see him getting what he wants. Dustin has been wonderful in AEW, putting on some classics and showing he still has plenty in the tank, but Jake is a different animal. I fully expect Jake to be all over Dustin in this match and even out the wins for the Inner Circle.

Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander

The women’s division has been handled very poorly, from the look of the belt to the women getting very little screen time to the matches just not feeling important. I actually enjoy both women in this match: Nyla is the right champ for now and I like Kris’ gimmick, but I need to know more about her. Which again leads into the introducing new characters week in and week out, then having them disappear shortly thereafter. What I hope happens here is Kris puts up a good fight against the Beast, with a decent amount of time to tell a real story in the ring. As seen on Being The Elite, Nyla is a huge Game of Thrones fan. Well, here’s hoping that Nyla of House Rose, first of her name, has a Mountain vs. Viper type match here, with Kris coming seconds of winning only to have Nyla crush her at the end.

Cody vs. MJF

MJF has redefined what it means to be a heel in this industry. The guy is so cool you can’t even hate him if you wanted to. Cody did a good job of realizing this and put himself through pure hell at the hands of MJF, leading us all to want Cody to kick the living crap out of MJF at AEW Revolution. This match is going to be pure emotion and Cody is going to feed on the Chicago crowd as he unleashes an onslaught the likes of which MJF has never felt before. MJF knows this, though, and will surely have a plan for this storm. I see Cody getting lost in the moment here and the “Diamond of AEW” walking out with the biggest win of his career.

Hangman Page & Kenny Omega vs. The Young Bucks

The Elite’s bad night won’t stop there as the biggest betrayal in AEW history will go down at AEW Revolution. We have seen for weeks now that Hangman Page is not happy with his role in the group, in fact, he doesn’t even claim to be a part of The Elite anymore. To be fair, The Young Bucks haven’t done a good job of fixing this or even trying to pick up a broken Hangman.

But one man has: Kenny Omega. He has stuck by Hangman and tells him how it is (even if it falls on deaf ears), and in the ring, their chemistry shines through.

Now they face the best tag team on the planet. The Young Bucks will prove they are just that as they finally take hold of the AEW Tag Team Titles. But the joy will be short-lived as Hangman Page pulls the trigger and attacks the newly crowned champions. Months of frustration will be taken out on The Young Bucks and when they look up for help from Kenny, they will receive another trigger, the V-trigger. When Kenny sees his partner taking out his frustration, he will follow and end The Elite as we know it.

Chris Jericho vs. Jon Moxley

Mox will run through as many men as he needs to to get his hands on Chris Jericho. Mox has been a thorn in Jericho’s side for too long now and I fully believe that Le Champion has a plan to escape Chicago with the gold. That plan is Jeff Cobb, mercenary from the islands. With Jericho’s Inner Circle being plenty busy on this night, he will need a back-up plan. Mox is going to put Jericho through hell, but it’s not time for him to pass the belt off just yet. The AEW roster has many more babyfaces than heels and until more stars are brought up, Jericho needs to have a Triple H Evolution-type run with the title. With that being said, Jeff Cobb should interfere in the match setting up a feud with Mox going forward.
