Kyle The Beast Enters ECWA Super 8

The 24th annual tournament takes place April 18 in New Castle, DE.

The Wrestling Estate has learned the next name slated for the 24th annual ECWA Super 8.

Kyle The Beast is scheduled for the one-night tournament on April 18 at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, DE. This will be the first Super 8 organized under Joe Zanolle, who took over the promotion in December.

“Kyle the Beast is a competitor ECWA has been interested in for several years, but scheduling has never been right,” Zanolle says. “So, I am happy to have him as part of the Super 8 this year and introduce him to our fanbase. Kyle is one of the more powerful competitors in the Northeast. The fans and certainly his opponents will find he is a very unique competitor.”

If you’re unfamiliar with KTB, all you need to know is Synergy owner Colin West considers him the one guy that should already be signed by a major promotion. “I don’t get why he’s not everywhere,” West said. “He’s a star that makes stars. What was Marko Stunt’s first big match? KTB. Why was everybody chanting ‘No Legs’ WrestleMania Weekend? Because he worked KTB. More important than having a star in your company is you need a guy who can make them.”

Over the past year, KTB has been a force to reckon with in Game Changer Wrestling, stealing one show by hitting a double arm drag and tope suicida with a lit blunt in his mouth! He’s picked up victories over Timothy Thatcher, Josh Briggs, Nate “Spyder” Webb and other big names. Winning the Super 8 could springboard KTB to greater heights in the wrestling world.

“It’s an honor to be selected as one of the competitors, knowing the class of fighters that have come through this prestigious tournament,” Kyle told The Wrestling Estate. “On this day, there will be no smiles and handshakes. I am there for one reason and that is to destroy seven other puny humans.”

The Wrestling Estate previously broke the news that Vinny Pacifico was the first name announced for this year’s Super 8. Also announced for this year’s tournament are Eric Martin and Ricky Reyes aka Cortez Castro from Lucha Underground.

For almost a quarter century, the ECWA Super 8 Tournament has become a launching pad for undiscovered, up-and-coming talents to get noticed throughout the industry. Previous winners include former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Low Ki, former ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels, seven-time WWE Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods and many other notable names. In recent years, the Super 8 has propelled participants into MLW. Richard Holliday won the 2018 tourney and the Von Erichs competed in last year’s Legacy tourney, which featured all second and third-generation wrestler.

Even if you don’t take home the trophy, an impressive showing in the tournament can raise your stock. Look no further than Ty Awesome, whose breakout performance in the 2018 edition led him to the ECWA Heavyweight Championship.

The 24th Annual Super 8 takes place Saturday, April 18, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, DE.
