Independent wrestling’s new best friend.

John Corrigan: The Wrestling Estate would cease to exist without independent wrestling.

We wouldn’t have enough original content to keep the site fresh and worth visiting. We wouldn’t have the exclusivity factor that separates us from everybody else, especially in the Philadelphia/New Jersey/Delaware area. Our social media would also suffer because our live event coverage draws massive engagement.

So, it’s not a stretch to say our indie coverage has been the lifeblood of the site. When we broke the news of the Von Erich brothers entering the Super 8 this year, it broke our record for traffic in a single day. (A record that still stands.) We provide a great service to the industry and wrestlers, promoters and fans have all let us know how much they appreciate our efforts.

That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that our indie coverage will expand thanks to the pride of the U.K., Steven Jackson.

Steven Jackson: For those who have read my articles, seen my tweets or heard my podcasts, you’ll know just how passionate I am about independent wrestling. As John pointed out, one of the first things that drew me to join The Wrestling Estate was the wealth of indie coverage the site offers. Independent wrestling is all about discovery.

A lot of times as fans we go through a top-down perspective, starting at WWE and then working down to the independent promotions which rarely have little to any video coverage. That was the journey I took, and my eyes were opened enormously to the pro wrestling industry as a whole.

I feel incredibly flattered by John’s comments that I am helping to increase our indie coverage. The main way I’m going to do this is through wrestling streaming service Powerslam.TV. After a chance discussion through social media, we now have unprecedented access to one of the most populated streaming services, outside of the WWE Network.

But we’re not keeping the service all to ourselves – our aim is to share Powerslam.TV with as many of our readers and fans as possible!

Corrigan: The breadth of this streaming service is unbelievable. It can be overwhelming at first glance, which is why I recommend taking a day or two to browse through and check out whatever catches your eye first.

I watched a DEFY show (a company I’d never heard of) with Alex Hammerstone vs. Schaff in front of a jam-packed, hot crowd in Portland with Rich Bocchini calling the action, and it was all shot like a VICE series. Then, I checked out a Northeast Wrestling show from a day or two after “Rowdy” Roddy Piper passed away, and it featured Ric Flair paying tribute to his friend, Mickie James vs. Mandy Leon and The Young Bucks vs. Rey Mysterio and Alberto El Patron. Finally, I watched Wrestling’s Most…Awful Angles from Kayfabe Commentaries.

It’s a smorgasbord of wrestling split up into dozens upon dozens of promotions, as well as various categories for whatever your appetite is. There is lucha, hardcore, intergender, documentaries, women’s only, you name it. I haven’t even renewed my WWE Network subscription because between Powerslam.TV and Netflix, I don’t have time for anything else.

Jackson: For me, the amount of European and Australasian promotions Powerslam.TV has access to is equally astounding!

New Zealand’s SPW, the UK’s premier Progress Wrestling, Ireland’s Over the Top Wrestling, and Spain’s White Wolf Wrestling among many others are independent promotions I’m so excited to be able to watch in one place with high-quality audio and video, rather than scouring YouTube and the internet for specific matches.

What I love is that you can see Powerslam.TV truly embrace and love independent wrestling. They want all fans to be able to see and enjoy as much independent wrestling as humanly possible. And, much like Amazon Prime or other streaming services, you don’t need to even sign up to a subscription to use the service and view the shows. Certain promotions allow fans to rent individual shows and presentations for a reduced price instead of signing up to a full subscription which is a great thing!

Users are able to make several of their own decisions rather than having ro make one big decision. It is all about the fans!

You can get a free month of Powerslam.TV when you subscribe by using the promo code: THEWRESTLINGEST

Note: This code is ONLY able to be used at Powerslam.TV and NOT on any of the apps.
