Time For Cody To Summon The Enforcer

AEW needs to bring in Arn Anderson.

Giving away Fyter Fest and Fight For The Fallen for free on Bleacher Report Live was a great idea. This should help AEW build its audience for the upcoming weekly two-hour live show that begins in October on TNT.

It almost appears that AEW is taking a page out of the WWE 1995-1996 playbook, running four big shows a year and complementing them with monthly specials, like In Your House for example. While WWE didn’t offer those specials for free like AEW has, it did offer them for a cheaper price than a WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series or Royal Rumble.

Their purpose was to build storylines toward those bigger shows and offer different main events, in which the world champion wasn’t always featured. After all, despite all the grief that Brock Lesnar gets, you don’t need to have the world title on the line every show. Could CIMA and Christopher Daniels have main evented Fyter Fest with a proper storyline heading toward All Out? Yes! Maybe do a smaller event and have MJF main event against Shawn Spears, if it means building more toward that Cody vs. Spears match at All Out. AEW’s current structure of pay-per-view/live events is going to work out well, but I do want the company to eventually build its own streaming service and get on board with WWE, New Japan and ROH, to an extent. It’s crucial in the digital age because after a while not everyone is going to pay $50 every three months for a big show.

With the recent Shawn Spears’ interview that included the addition of Tully Blanchard as his manager/advisor/mentor, there is one more individual that could be brought on board to really put this whole storyline of Blanchard vs. Rhodes even more over the top. As reported months ago, Arn Anderson was released from his WWE contract. According to Dave Meltzer, Anderson had multiple confrontations with Vince McMahon over the years, but an incident regarding an allegedly intoxicated Alicia Fox being allowed to perform pushed McMahon over the edge. Meltzer said that John Cena would have saved Anderson’s job, but he hasn’t been around. Meltzer also said that Triple H saved Anderson more than once, but perhaps he couldn’t save Double A this time.

We haven’t heard much from Anderson for quite some time, so I’m calling for AEW to bring him in as an equalizer to Tully at All Out. Obviously, Cody doesn’t need a mouthpiece, but it would be fun to have Anderson back as The Enforcer. Then, maybe have Arn betray Cody (he is a Rhodes after all) to align with Spears and Blanchard. This can later bring Dustin into the mix and maybe even bring together a Four Horsemen-like group to be led by Anderson and Blanchard for some time. AEW has plenty of young talent that could use the rub from working with and learning from those legends. Eventually, Anderson and Blanchard could pass the torch and let the group run roughshod on their own.
