Who will retrieve the magical briefcase?

It’s that time of the year again – what was once a marquee matchup at WrestleMania has now manifested itself into the spiritual replacement of King of the Ring on the big 5 WWE PPV calendar. Eight competitors are looking for a spark or an extra boost towards their summer run, while some are looking to avoid career obscurity. Let’s take a look at the women’s Money in the Bank match and consider who’s deserving and most likely to walk out the building with the briefcase.

8. Dana Brooke

As a throwback to the early days of the match that gave wrestlers such as Shelton Benjamin and Evan Bourne a platform to showcase their talents, the exact same can be done for Dana Brooke. Ever since the split from Charlotte, Brooke has fallen into obscurity. This could be the night that she creates her own image and breaks away from the bottomless pit that can be the WWE midcard. If positioned as a babyface, she has a personal story that everyone can get behind. While her chances are slim to none, don’t be surprised to see a Dana Brooke section in the crowd.

7. Naomi

As the next two entries show, they’re just here to fill up the match and stay relevant. While a former champion in her own right, the glow has certainly dimmed down. At this time, she is probably better suited to form a tag team and go after the Tag Team Titles.

6. Natalya

The same can be said for Natalya. The tag team with Beth Phoenix was good, but her singles run doesn’t have the same impact as her initial run did.

5. Mandy Rose

God’s Greatest Creation is the dark horse in this match. If WWE is planning to feature her more as a singles star, then this is the perfect way to do it. Although the feud with Naomi didn’t light the world on fire, she was able to stay with her and carry her weight. If given the briefcase, the possibilities are endless. Expect a mural of Mandy painted on the case itself.

4. Bayley

It’s been up and down for the former Women’s Champion. Now with the status of Sasha Banks in question, these are intriguing times. While the concept of a babyface Money in the Bank winner doesn’t always work, if pulled off liked Rob Van Dam’s, Bayley could win the briefcase, call her shot and rejuvenate her career through anticipation for the eventual title shot.

3. Carmella

I wouldn’t mind if Carmella got to be Ms. Money in the Bank again – I quite enjoyed it. The difference this time around would be she would be a face, not an incompetent heel who couldn’t make up her mind when or when not to cash in. If given the same amount of time given previously, the payoff this time would be even greater. Now she’s not the odds-on favorite, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Carmella win again.

2. Ember Moon

Fresh off coming back injury, Ember Moon is poised to eclipse her competitors. A proper build up to SummerSlam would be great considering what might go down with Lacey Evans. The presence of the briefcase alongside Moon will go a long way in making up for lost momentum during the transition from NXT. Either way, I just want to see an eclipse off a ladder.

1. Alexa Bliss

The timing couldn’t be more perfect for Little Miss Bliss to return to a full-time schedule. The Moment of Bliss has kept her relevant while simultaneously giving her character a break. Ronda Rousey is most likely going to be gone until at least 2020. Depending on how Becky Lynch as double champ plays out, she be could be positioned as the face of SmackDown despising Raw, which could actually lead to a good build between Lynch and Bliss toward Survivor Series. The Goddess can also accomplish what only CM Punk has done by winning the briefcase in consecutive years.
