ECWA Ends 2018 With Charity & Championships

Mike Law defends against Ty Awesome this Saturday at ECWA Toys For Tots.

Who has been the MVP of ECWA this year?

Most of the roster would be hard-pressed to say anyone other than Mike Law. “Colossal” became the ECWA Heavyweight Champion in May, besting PCA teammate Azrieal and Ty Awesome (who was injured and taken out of the match) in a triple threat. Over the past seven months, Law has turned back the challenges of Azrieal and Chris Wylde, making history in the process by becoming the first ECWA champion to defend on Canadian soil.

Most fans would say Ty Awesome. Since his breakout performance in the Super 8 Tournament, the “Maryland Miracle” has wowed the ECWA faithful, picking up major wins over Azrieal and “Retrosexual” Anthony Greene. Awesome’s resilience and mesmerizing aerial offense has led to chants of “Ty Is Awesome” echoing throughout the Asbury United Methodist Church on numerous occasions.

Now that Law and Awesome are facing off one on one for the first time this Saturday, we’re going to get an answer. Who is the better man…and who is the best in ECWA?

We’ll also need to see what condition Ty Awesome is in after he was assaulted by two hooded men over Thanksgiving weekend.

Gold seems to always revolve around The PCA, whether it’s Azrieal and Mike Law trading the ECWA Heavyweight Championship or most recently, Joey Ace winning the ECWA Mid-Atlantic Championship from Joe Gacy. Of course, AJ Pan deserves a lot of credit for the victory, as he low-blowed Gacy before tossing him head first into the steel post, allowing Ace to hit a flying elbow drop for the pin.

Because Pan has a habit of interfering in his clients’ matches, he has been inserted into the title picture. On Saturday at ECWA Toys For Tots, Pan will team with Ace in a handicap match against the former champion. If Gacy pins or submits either man, he’ll win his title back.

For several months, speculation has run rampant regarding tension in The PCA, but it was another group that crumbled at Witching Hour: The #Draw. In his comeback from a broken wrist, Chris Wylde tapped out to Law in the main event for the ECWA Heavyweight Championship.

Then, with Brian Johnson out of sight, Justin Pusser relied on Adam Chandler the Great to defend the ECWA Tag Team Titles against Marcus Waters and The Funky White Boy. The odds seemed stacked against the challengers, considering it was their first time teaming up and only Boy’s second match in the company.

However, Pusser inadvertently knocked Miss Jasmine off the apron, prompting Adam Chandler to check on their manager’s wellbeing. That left Pusser all alone for the challengers to capitalize. Afterward, Pusser walked out on Chandler…and Jasmine did, too!

While the future of The #Draw is in doubt, there’s no question that Waters and Funky White Boy have their work cut out for them in their first title defense, taking on Bear Country (Beefcake Charlie and Bear Bronson). As does Wylde, who will step into the ring with arch rival Ricky Martinez for the last time at ECWA Toys For Tots.

Miss Jazmine was The #Draw’s saving grace at Witching Hour, entering the ECWA Women’s Championship match and emerging with the title. Her first defense takes place Saturday as she meets Gemma Cross and Sammi Pandora in a triple threat. At the 51st Anniversary Show in September, Pandora made Cross submit.

Also in action, former ECWA Heavyweight and Mid-Atlantic Champions Azrieal and Kekoa will collide for the first time in Delaware. Plus, Xavier Cross returns to take on ECWA Hall of Famer and the company’s only Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Mr. Ooh La La. In a showcase match, Prince of Camden” Desean Pratt will make his debut against CHIKARA favorite Green Ant.

All fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy as part of ECWA partnering with Toys For Tots.

ECWA Toys For Tots takes place Saturday, December 1, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, Delaware.
