MLW Resurrects WAR GAMES

Expect three MLW debuts and one major return this Thursday in Fort Lauderdale.

Get ready for the coin toss…MLW is bringing back WAR GAMES!

For the first time in 15 years, the steel cage will descend over two MLW rings, as teams of five strive to survive. Unleashing terror throughout the summer, Sami Callihan has been chosen to captain a squad of mercenaries – his Death Machines, “England’s Most Dangerous Man” Jimmy Havoc and making his MLW debut, the monster Abyss.

Callihan played a large part in Shane Strickland losing the MLW World Heavyweight Championship to Low Ki, attacking “Swerve” before the title fight. Additionally, Callihan and his Death Machines have targeted Kotto Brazil and Barrington Hughes after taking out their childhood hero – MVP – in a Boiler Room Brawl.

With tensions reaching a boiling point, the trio of Strickland, Brazil and Hughes will join forces with John Hennigan and Tommy Dreamer for battle inside one of the most notorious structures in pro wrestling history. This will be a historic evening for Dreamer as the “Innovator of Violence” has never competed in WAR GAMES, nor has he ever worked for MLW. When he walks through the cage door on September 6, the House of Hardcore owner will have the distinction of being the only person to appear for WWE, Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground and MLW this year.

WAR GAMES isn’t the only MLW comeback this Thursday – the legendary LA Park will return to the company that he helped put on the map with his bloody rivalry with Sabu in the early 2000s. “This is a guy fans have been asking me to bring back since we announced One-Shot,” said MLW founder/CEO Court Bauer. “He’s had a banner year in Mexico and I expect fans are in for a treat when he steps foot in an MLW ring in South Florida.”

Day of the Dead comes early this year as LA Park dons the iconic skeleton mask once again, this time against the most notorious luchadore in the world: Pentagon Jr. This dream bout will be a Mexican Massacre Match as Konnan stands in Pentagon’s corner and Salina de la Renta accompanies LA Park.

Speaking of de la Renta, she will be at ringside as MLW World Heavyweight Champion Low Ki competes in his second title defense against Rey Fenix. After Konnan exposed da la Renta’s corruption, Fenix and his brother Pentagon ripped up their Promociones Dorado contracts. The malevolent impresario has vowed that her former clients will suffer the consequences of abandoning her.

Joey Janela was also abandoned recently as his girlfriend Aria Blake stabbed him in the back for arch nemesis MJF. The Bad Boy has a lot of pent up frustration to release as he goes one-on-one with “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, fresh off his Battle Riot victory in New York City. Of course, Lawlor has the opportunity to challenge for the MLW World Title at any time of his choosing, perhaps even on Thursday.

As for MJF and Blake, they’ll be teaming up against Joey Ryan and the debuting Taya Valkyrie. The “King of Dong Style” looks to avenge his loss to MJF in the World Middleweight Championship match at Battle Riot. Meanwhile, this will be Blake’s first match in MLW after recovering from a shoulder injury.

The Hart Foundation will all be in action, albeit in separate singles matches. Davey Boy Smith Jr. takes on ACH, Teddy Hart faces Rich Swann and Brian Pillman Jr. makes his MLW in-ring debut against Turkey’s top ranked wrestler Vandal Ortagun.

Plus, there will be a monster mash as bounty hunter Brody King battles with the “French Canadian Frankenstein” PCO.
