Low Ki Aims To Collect The Bounty

Shane Strickland faces his toughest challenger this Thursday in MLW.

The price on Shane Strickland’s head has gone up.

Now that the MLW World Heavyweight Champion has overcome the threat of Brody King, Strickland faces a new challenger this Thursday in Orlando: international assassin Low Ki. And Salina de la Renta has sweetened the pot, increasing the bounty to $60,000.

It appears as though there is some sort of collusion between Low Ki and the malevolent impresario. Rumor has it that it was actually de la Renta who brokered Low Ki’s suspension being lifted recently.

The Latin goddess is thirsty for gold, looking to add even more titles to her collection. She’ll be in the corner of MLW World Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix as they defend against the up-and-coming duo of ACH and Rich Swann. “The best luchadores in the sport are on a quest to make history,” de la Renta said in a press release. “July 12th the gold will stay in the house of Promociones Dorado.”

Team Filthy, consisting of UFC Fighter “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, Seth Petruzelli and Simon Gotch, will present the third Simon Gotch Prize Fight: “Any and all gentlemen with superb athletic ability are welcomed to step up and try to test their prowess. If they can last just 5 minutes in an exhibition against the “Great Gotch” without being pinned or conceding, they will win a LARGE sum cash reward.” In May, Gotch squared off against karate practitioner Danny Santiago, who lasted a mere 37 seconds with the Great Gotch. In June, Mike Parrow lasted three minutes before succumbing.

After defeating Joey Janela a couple months back, Jimmy Havoc bumped into Lawlor by accident outside the GILT Nightclub. Team Filthy proceeded to maul Havoc, leaving him licking his wounds in a ditch. “England’s Most Dangerous Man” will make his return to MLW on Thursday as Havoc seeks revenge against Lawlor.

Speaking of Janela, his rivalry with MJF continues this Thursday as they wage war in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Whenever these two rising stars face off, there always seems to be a woman involved. Whether it was Penelope Ford in CZW or Aria Blake in MLW, tensions are high when the elitist comes near The Bad Boy. They brawled all over the nightclub in their last match, so expect drinks to be spilled and blood to be shed in this encounter.

After months of dissension, Team TBD has finally imploded. Jason Cade and Jimmy Yuta recently had a social media meltdown in which they agreed to part ways, but not before squaring off to determine who really is the weak link.

The undefeated Jake Hager looks to continue his dominance this Thursday as he goes one on one with Fred Yehi. Will Colonel Parker’s thoroughbred finally be stopped by the “Man of 1,000 Counters?” It will be an intriguing matchup between two grappling greats, one representing Bellator and the other looking to become the face of MLW.

Finally, John Hennigan (aka Johnny Impact, Johnny Mundo & John Morrison) will return to MLW to take on the controversial Teddy Hart. The third-generation superstar shocked the world by showing up a few weeks ago, destroying Trey Miguel and putting the locker room on notice. With Hennigan set to return to Impact Wrestling in two weeks at Slammiversary, a win over Hart would give him huge momentum heading into the pay-per-view.

MLW Fusion tapings take place at the Gilt Nightclub in Orlando on Thursday, July 12.
