Five Things I’m Most Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving!

In this edition of The Wrestling Estate roundtable, we share the five things we’re most thankful for in 2021.

Chad Gelfand’s Five Things I’m Most Thankful For

Subject to Change

This year, my friends Vince (@vincemcmanz) and Dylan (@senseislim) and I launched our wrestling podcast “Subject to Change,” now nearly 40 episodes in. I’m proud of the work we’ve done on the show and thankful we get to do it every week.

You can listen to Subject to Change on Spotify and Apple Music.

Alternatives in Wrestling

In an era where WWE has some of the best talents but the worst creative, I’m thankful that there are several promotions right now that are viable, especially with WWE seeming to do mass releases every other week. It’s also important for fans that there are other places to support to watch their favorite wrestlers.

New Day’s Success

2021 has not been a great year for many wrestlers within WWE, but it has been a great year for New Day, further cementing itself as the greatest faction in the company’s history. Xavier Woods accomplished his lifelong dream of becoming King of the Ring and Big E finally won the WWE Championship. I’m thankful to see good people in wrestling win.

Live Crowds Back

I couldn’t take any more Thunderdome, piped-in crowd noise, so the crowds coming back has been a welcomed sight. Despite what some contrarians might say, having a crowd is necessary to make pro wrestling work, especially in TV wrestling. The presentation feels empty and lacking without them, even if you might get some bad crowds now and then.

The Wrestling Estate

As always, I’m thankful for the website, the home of my wrestling takes for the past few years. So, to John, Steven, Jack, David, Neal, Juan and everyone else who has been a contributor, thank you.

Steven Jackson’s Five Things I’m Most Thankful For

I’m thankful that throughout 2021 I’ve been supported by so many amazing people. And I hope I’ve supported them the same way, too.

I’m thankful that my driving instructor didn’t quit on me, taught me to drive and helped me to pass my driving test on my first try!

I’m thankful I got the opportunity to interview my favorite wrestler, Jonathan Gresham, and write an article chronicling his career in Japan.

I’m thankful that I can laugh more at the things which used to bother me now that I’ve moved into a much better space for my mental health.

I’m thankful for all the wrestlers, wrestling companies and fans who’ve helped keep our love alive. The community coming together when the world needed it most shows the power wrestling has. I’m thankful that I’m a very small part of this wonderful group of people.

John Corrigan’s Five Things I’m Most Thankful For

My girlfriend agreeing to spend the rest of her life with me and our pup Piecey Pie.

My new job, which is a tremendous opportunity to grow a brand’s U.S. presence while doing what I love – journalism. I’m finally getting a push, if you will.

Jeremy Picker, co-founder and CEO of Lakewood, CO-based AMB3R, for creating our logo and producing some cool merch for us. (Our T-shirt makes a great Christmas gift!)

Reckless Airwaves Radio and its founder Sam for continuing to be the best partner anyone could ask for. I’m glad that Corrigan’s Corner still has a home there after all these years.

Whoever beats Joey Ace. Can you believe this jackass won back the ECWA Heavyweight Championship? Ugh, get ready for our Festivus roundtable!
