John Kiernan Rocks New Wrestling Themes

Masha Slamovich, Tony Nese and Zicky Dice are the recipients.

It’s been a rockin’ fall season for John Kiernan.

The Hackensack, NJ-based composer has released new entrance themes and a soundtrack for three independent wrestling standouts over the past month.

Just in time for his 90-day no-compete clause to expire, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese returned to the indies with fresh entrance music titled “The Premiere Athlete,” also his moniker. The stomp-clap beat, heavy guitars and leathery vocals performed by James Wamsley of Daybreak Embrace and Lucid Drive bring to light the vision of the one who moves like a cruiserweight and hits like a heavyweight.

“James’ powerful voice has been heard all around the world,” John Kiernan said. “It was an honor to have him grace this hard-hitting track with his aggressive vocals.”

Kiernan also provided the entrance theme for Impact Wrestling’s newest Knockout Masha Slamovich. Hailing from Moscow, Russia, Slamovich was handpicked by Gail Kim to face Impact Knockout Champion Deanna Purrazzo, and her performance earned her a contract. Owing to rough and rugged style, her entrance theme is titled “Art of Violence.”

“In the same vein as Arch Enemy, Testament and that good ol’ trash, Masha’s here and is coming for the heads of anyone standing across from her,” Kiernan said.

And then there’s “Outlandish Paradise,” the theme song for Zicky Dice’s Outlandish Paradise event on Jan. 15, 2022. Streaming live from The Action Building in Atlanta, Dice is partnering with Twitch to present a one-night wrestling entertainment event that will be unlike anything ever experienced. More than one thousand fans are expected to attend and over a million Twitch streamers are anticipating this unpredictable spectacle. So far announced is Taya Valkyrie, who will be competing in her first match since being released by WWE.

“The theme is a raucous, in-your-face track that tells you where you need to be and what it’s all about and that is Zicky Dice and that will be what his Outlandish Paradise is all about,” Kiernan said.

The in-house composer for the United Wrestling Network, Kiernan has written original entrance themes for various talents from Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling and more. He’s also performed domestically and internationally in Shanghai, China at MusikMesse with his original music and his previous work with Etherius. Rubbing shoulders with a who’s who of the music industry, Kiernan has performed with and provided support for Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Gus G (former guitarist for Ozzy Ozbourne), Andy James, Foxy Shazzam! and more.

“The best entrance themes help in developing and identifying the wrestler, even before they hit the ring,” John Kiernan said. “What can you tell about the talent without even seeing them? Are you about to get your ass kicked or entertained? Is the wrestler a demonic presence or an over-the-top charisma machine? Can someone who’s never watched wrestling understand who’s about to walk through the curtain? These questions and traits need to be at the core of any entrance theme. Being able to have a dope theme that fans can listen back to on Spotify and the like is great, but having an entrance theme that elevates your persona – those are the most effective.”
