What We’re Most Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s tradition at The Wrestling Estate for a Thanksgiving roundtable in which we share the five people and/or things we’re most thankful for this year.

Neal Wagner

My wife. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her by my side. She has supported me in everything I do and has always had my back. We have had an eventful 2020 with a new house and changing our lives in a short time in the middle of a pandemic. We have so many things that we still want to accomplish and I’m proud and privileged to be doing it with her. I love her more than anything in the world and couldn’t imagine my life without her.

Chad Gelfand

My Family. In this crazy year with so much uncertainty, I’m thankful to have my family around me.

My Health. COVID-19 has put things into greater perspective for me, and I’m thankful to still have my health in a year where a lot of people, unfortunately, haven’t been able to say the same.

The Wrestling Estate. This is my third year now at The Wrestling Estate, and I’m thankful for John for giving me this platform and all of the other great writers at this site that set us apart.

The New Day. They may have been separated this year, but The New Day is eternal and they’re always there to entertain in whatever forms they may be in.

Travis Fulgham. The Eagles may have finally found a No. 1 receiver *sheds tear.*

Steven Jackson

I’m thankful that the U.K. still has toilet paper as for a time we were all stockpiling like something out of Fallout!

I’m thankful that I’ve been able to stay in work and also progress in my careers given all the upheaval and situation we have been living in during COVID-19.

I’m thankful I can finally grow a beard so if I feel like going through a Vince Russo period with my looks, it isn’t too far away.

I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses, medical staff and key workers who are working around the world to keep us all safe. They’re sacrificing their lives for the safety of my family, which means so much.

Lastly, I’m thankful for each one of you who reads and shares this article, has reacted to a tweet or reached out to the team. You are part of a special community, which during these really terrible and scary times, has helped me and many others stay strong and positive. We will get through these times and when we do, we will all rejoice at WrestleMania weekend, share in the moments and have a mass hug for our love of wrestling. Keep safe and stay strong everyone! Thank you.

John Corrigan

Sam Namo, the man behind the former Team LeftJab Radio and now Reckless Airwaves Radio. Sam has partnered with us since day one and remains the most professional person I’ve ever worked with. He’s dedicated, always looking to collaborate and refuses to rest on his laurels. He inspires me to take this creation to new heights, and we wouldn’t have landed our first sponsor this year without Sam.

Bill Apter, Dave Meltzer and Scott Keith. This Holy Trinity of wrestling writers has supported us again this year, giving us a rub on their influential platforms.

Ryan Kavanagh, Joe Zanolle, Colin West, Matt Tremont and all of the other promoters we’ve established great relationships with over the past three years. This year was extremely tough to cover the independent wrestling scene due to all of the government restrictions, but I’m grateful that these guys continue to work with us to grow both our brands.

Giovanni’s DILLicious Pickles, who I’d love to be our sponsor, but understandably has too much on his plate right now. It’s a new pickle food truck parked literally down the street from my house and the owner gives one free menu item to students who bring report cards filled with As and Bs.

The Wrestling Estate team.

Steven Jackson, the pride of the U.K., has gone above and beyond this year, exposing our brand to new eyeballs, scoring exclusive interviews with international wrestlers and building relationships with entities like FITE TV and Monthly Puroresu.

In addition to his tremendous piece on Sasha Banks, Chad Gelfand continues to grow our Facebook, a full-time effort that directly impacts the site.

Juan Bautista is always coming up with fresh, herculean ideas to drive views up and connect our team with our loyal readers. He recently launched The Wrestling Estate Community on Facebook, which you can join here.

Unlike most folks who take sabbaticals from the site, Neal Wagner keeps his word. If he says he’s going to write something, he does. You’ll see his work throughout December via his Top 10 Stories of 2020.

David Gibb wrote one of the best pieces we’ve ever had and is the consummate team player on Twitter, promoting work he wasn’t even involved with just to help us grow.

Jack Goodwillie, who’s been with The Wrestling Estate since before its infancy, dealt with his fair share of challenges this year, and I’m glad that this site could be his escape. His passion for pro wrestling, as well as writing, is why I started this this thing in the first place.

2020 has been our best year in terms of views, quality content and social media interaction. I’m thrilled that we were able to make money during the pandemic and appreciate everyone who has ever read our work. Let’s kick more ass in 2021!
