Royal Rumbles News, Odds, and Predictions

You better believe that the WWE will go big on the 2020 Royal Rumble.

It’s a brand new year, and a brand new decade, so you better believe that the WWE will go big on the 2020 Royal Rumble.

After all, it’s the first epic event that leads down the windy, cobbled road of pro wrestling drama that ends at the front gate of Wrestle Mania 36.

The full card hasn’t been exposed to us just yet, but there have been a handful of matches confirmed and we’ve found odds and some additional info for them at 5Dimes, check their review here.

So what do we know so far?

There will be a Men’s Royal Rumble, a Women’s Royal Rumble, The Universal Championship Singles Match will be between Bray Wyatt and Daniel Bryan. The Raw Women’s Championship Match will be between babyface Becky Lynch and Asuka. Roman Reigns will take on Baron Corbin, and the Smackdown Women’s Championship Singles Match will be Bayley and Lacey Evans.

Men’s Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns is the odds on favorite at -150 – at the time of writing. He is followed by a short-list of top favorites which include CM Punk at +400, Drew McIntyre at +500, Brock Lesnar and Cain Valasquez at +650, Edge at +900, Kevin Owen at +1000 and Bray Wyatt, Keith Lee and Daniel Bryan at +1200 for Wyatt and Lee, and +1600 for Bryan.

But the Royal Rumble is anything but predictable. It has always been filled with craziness and random twists. I highly doubt that Roman Reigns, the most obvious choice for the winner actually wins. Brock Lesnar is another that is doubtful, as he will be, according to Paul Heyman, entering the ring first. So, I don’t think that he’ll win. They may script in that he ends up gassing out towards the end. That said, Lesnar has a lot of value as the Ironman – the guy who is in the ring for the most amount of time, and to get the most eliminations.

Women’s Royal Rumble

Shayna Baszler is the far and away favorite to win the women’s division. She’s sitting as a massive fav of -300 with Ronda Rousey as the next closest favorite to win at +450. After that, the odds just get longer and longer. Charlotte Flair is +700, Paige, Rhea Ripley, and Sasha Banks are all +1000, then it the proceeding ladies fall rapidly down to +2000, +2500 and longer.

That said, Charlotte Flair has some value at +300 to get the most eliminations of the bunch, even if she doesn’t win the rumble. Sasha Banks has the same odds to be the Ironwoman and has some value there. Others on the shortlist for most eliminations are Rhea Ripley at +400, Sasha Banks at +500, and Shayna Baszler at +600.

Men’s Universal Champion

Bray Wyatt / the Fiend is a massive -500 favorite to defeat Daniel Bryan. But I feel like this might be Bryan’s day. It was a close one the last time they went at it. It took everything Wyatt had to pull it out and he barely got the victory over Daniel Bryan. There has to be some back and forth if they want to keep the rivalry going; it can’t be all one-sided. So, at +333, there is some great value in taking Bryan to become the Universal Champ.

Women’s Raw Champion

Becky Lynch has had her ups and downs in the ring, but one thing is certain. She has been the most prominent women’s division babyface in the WWE Universe for the last couple of years. The odds favor Lynch exactly the same as they favor Bray Wyatt. Asuka is the challenger and is +333 just like Bryan to snatch the title away. In this case, I don’t think the underdog wins. I do think Asuka puts up a good fight, and it gets messy … but even though she is one part of the Women’s Tag Team Champions and makes a fantastic heel, I don’t feel like she has the star-power to take the title away from Lynch. Especially, after the green poison incident the other day that led to an interesting tirade on the part of Lynch. Lynch should overcome and remain the brand’s top babyface and Women’s champ.
