Revolution Wrestling Federation Returns

The promotion holds its second event this Saturday in Harrisburg, PA.

I love independent wrestling.

As you can tell by the coverage on this site, independent wrestling holds a special place in my heart. Most of the time, it gives you more bang for your buck than a televised product, especially Raw or SmackDown. You’re only a few feet from the ring, there are barely any talking segments and the wrestlers are more likely to interact with you. I also enjoy when they use popular songs on the radio for their entrance themes rather than the generic soft-rock white noise that has plagued WWE in recent years.

I’m also fortunate to live in Philadelphia, a hot bed for wrasslin’. We’re close to ECWA, the longest-running independent promotion in the United States, as well as relative newcomer Synergy, which has delivered on a consistent basis over the past year or so. Now Modern Vintage Wrestling has come to the Northeast, and even though it cancelled its second event in Philly in March, the promoter has already compensated the fans by offering free admission to its April event.

And who could forget PretzelMania?

Reporting on independent wrestling has been a boon to our website traffic. Similar to a need for local journalism, it remains an area of interest that largely goes underreported. Most wrestling websites figure that if these athletes aren’t on TV, then who will click to read about them. Then again, most wrestling websites don’t have a legitimate journalism background and probably don’t feel compelled to make a difference in the industry.

That’s fine because we do. I enjoy racking up the miles on my 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, pulling into VFW halls, churches, breweries and any other unorthodox venues, and witnessing up-and-comers as well as old-timers entertain intimate crowds of fellow diehards. They deserve to have their efforts recognized and I take great pride in being an outlet for them.

Which brings me to the Revolution Wrestling Federation. This new promotion will be holding its second show this Saturday at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center in The Capitol Room in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to cover the event because we’re already obligated to cover the 23rd annual ECWA Super 8 Tournament in South Philly.

But we want to do everything we can to help spread the word about a start-up, especially because RWF reached out to us and not only invited us to attend, but also offered tickets for giveaways with our readers. That’s the kind of collaboration we appreciate here at The Wrestling Estate.

“With our first live event ‘Flashpoint,’ which took place March 23, being a massive success, we are looking to not only follow up, but to raise the bar with our next live event Retaliation,” said Ralph Kohr of the Revolution Wrestling Federation. “Rest assured we have been working hard on every aspect of our first production to fine tune what we already brought to the table and without a doubt raise the production quality that much more. From the live show at H-Mac in The Capitol Room of lovely Harrisburg, Pennsylvani,a to the streaming live broadcast brought to the internet via the Revolution Wrestling Federation Facebook Watch channel, we hope to really raise the ante so to speak!”
