Roundtable: Bound For Glory 2018

Picks and predictions for Impact Wrestling’s biggest show of the year.

Which match are you most looking forward to?

Steven Jackson: The Concrete Jungle match between LAX and the OGz. The interviews, the matches and the layers of depth make this one of the most highly-anticipated matches in TNA history. Plus, for those who don’t know, I have frequently been praising this whole story arc on Twitter and my tweets actually caught the attention of Konnan himself!

John Corrigan: Austin Aries vs. Johnny Impact. Aries has been on a roll this year, and no doubt that Impact is the perfect dance partner. They’re going to tear the house down and I’m glad I’ll be there to witness it.

Juan Bautista: I’m just looking forward to the event. In recent years, as the bitch known as Dixie Carter has been phased out, Impact Wrestling has really cleaned itself up. As a fan who watched Impact from 2006 until the decline a few years back, it’s great to see the company in a healthy state again and staying in that direction.

What do you think of Moose’s heel turn?

Jackson: Moose’s heel turn has done nothing for me in the slightest. I much prefer Moose as a babyface than a heel, and his allegiance with Austin Aries and Killer Kross just doesn’t work. Moose just looks to be making up the numbers.

Corrigan: I love it. From his colorful outfits to his profanity-laced teleconference, Moose has hit a whole other level as a villain. Can’t wait to see what he, Aries and Kross do in the future.

Bautista: I think it’s great. It’s the right time to freshen up his character. He was an established babyface whose act that hadn’t grown stale. Now he’s a heel and there are multiple directions that he can take it.

Was it too soon to take the Knockouts Championship off Su Yung?

Jackson: It is difficult to say. On one hand, I think it was as Su Yung is the most unique character in Impact Wrestling, and the title added to her dominance. On the other hand, Su Yung has an Undertaker aura to her and he never really needed the title to help him get over stronger. In terms of the title’s prestige, I think Su Yung lost it too soon, but in terms of Su Yung as the champion, I think it thankfully hasn’t damaged her too much.

Corrigan: Absolutely. Tessa Blanchard didn’t need the Knockouts Title so soon. Meanwhile, Su Yung holding the gold was riveting and made total sense because she has buried most of the division only a few months into her reign. I also don’t like that she lost the title without being pinned or finally receiving her comeuppance.

Bautista: No, because of the caliber of talent that are challenging for the belt. Tessa Blanchard is the right person to be champion, but Su Yung is still very credible. It just goes to show how strong the division is.

After Abyss goes in this year, who should be the next inductee into the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame?

Jackson: “The Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm. A TNA/Impact Wrestling original and one of the most integral figures in the history of the company, I’d love to see James Storm return and for us all to celebrate his contributions. And, I’d like “The Wildcat” Chris Harris to induct him.

Corrigan: Mike Tenay. Abyss suggested that he be the inductee for next year, and I agree. The Professor was the voice of Impact Wrestling for 13 years and did a tremendous job calling the action.

Bautista: Jerry Jarrett. He assisted his son Jeff in starting what is now Impact Wrestling. It is well known the hell they went through. It’s the right time to start putting in staff members that contributed to the product. If Impact can negotiate with WWE, they should get Jeremy Borash inducted, too. He doesn’t get enough credit for what he did. As far as wrestlers, it should be AJ Styles or Samoa Joe. These two defined Impact from the X-Division to the main event.

Who wins: LAX or the OGz?

Jackson: Asking who will win out of the OGz vs. LAX is an unanswerable question. The feud could end at the PPV or still go on into 2019. Furthermore, add in combustible leaders Konnan and King to the mix and you’ve got one heck of a match. To be fun, though, I’ve got to choose…LAX!

Corrigan: The OGz. Something tells me the war isn’t over.

Bautista: LAX. This civil war ends with a beautiful moment of reunion. They figure out as a unit that they are an unstoppable force and that sets up 2019 for them to raise hell.
