10 Greatest SummerSlam Entrances

WWE doesn’t save all the hoopla for WrestleMania.

Everybody talks about the greatest WrestleMania entrances over the years, but what about SummerSlam? WWE’s second biggest event of the year has seen some spectacular arrivals, filled with the glitz and glamor we’ve come to expect at the Showcase of Immortals.

10. Triple H, 2007

Playing off his return from injury, Triple H’s entrance revolved around his knee being repaired like he was a robot (ala his Terminator entrance in later years). Green pyro blasted around the Titantron as some Latin phrase flashed across the screen for the second coming of the King of Kings.

9. The New Day, 2015

With SummerSlam planting its roots in Brooklyn, The New Day decided to embrace the crowd with an acapella remix of Empire State of Mind. “Let’s hear it for New Day, negativity won’t affect us cause it’s infectious, Let’s hear it for New Day!”

8. Shawn Michaels, 2002

After four years away from the ring, the Heartbreak Kid returned to an epic ovation with enormous pyro and confetti. No one knew if it was the last time we’d see him, so there was a bitter sweetness in the air.

7. D-X, 2009

For yet another D-X reunion, Triple H and Shawn Michaels entered the arena on a miniature tank (paling in comparison to Rusev’s tank at WrestleMania 31), shooting fireworks out of cannons near their crotches. They were also joined by members of the armed forces to represent the D-X Army.

6. X-Pac, 1998

After Jeff Jarrett shaved Howard Finkel’s hair on Sunday Night Heat, the legendary ring announcer tagged along with X-Pac for some hilarious crotch chops and the most booming “Suck It!” ever.

5. Undertaker, 1992

This was the first special entrance of the Undertaker, igniting a trend for the next quarter century. With Paul Bearer leading the way, the Deadman rode the back of a hearse through Wembley Stadium. The sun had already gone down, and with the ominous fog in the air, you can’t help but get chills as the Grim Reeper arrives to collect another soul.

4. Triple H, 1998

Later that same night, Chris Warren and The DX Band played Triple H to the ring for his ladder match with The Rock. It was a passing of the torch in two ways: the band previously played for Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIV, and now that HHH was the new leader, they played for him as he won the Intercontinental Title from The Great One.

3. Edge, 2021

Turning back the clock more than 20 years, Edge paid tribute to its Brood roots by ascending from the depths of hell in a ring of fire as Gangrel’s kickass theme song blasted throughout Allegiant Stadium. Perhaps WWE had checked out Hybrid Wrestling just a week prior…

2. Undertaker, 1998

As one-half of the main event with Stone Cold, Undertaker showed up ready to ride the highway to hell. Donning his vampire/Batman attire, the Deadman entered through the gates of hell with his Ministry of Darkness theme. Known for his WrestleMania arrivals, this is one of the greatest SummerSlam entrances ever.

1. Ultimate Warrior, 1988

The initial riff of his music sends MSG into a frenzy as Ultimate Warrior is revealed as Honkytonk Man’s challenger. His usual energetic entrance was perfect for dethroning the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in 30 seconds.
