Tourney Action Continues at Synergy

Tremont, Macintosh, KTB and Shields compete in the semi-finals at “The Fight Boys.”

There won’t be vampires at Synergy Pro Wrestling on Saturday, but there’s a good chance blood will be spilled.

Competitors from all over the Northeast independent wrestling scene will gather in Manville, New Jersey, for Synergy’s fourth event: “The Fight Boys.”

In the main event, “Dragonborn” Drake Chambers will look to settle his score with Frightmare after they brawled all over the building at “Third Degree.” This time they’ll be tethered together by a dog collar chain, released only after one man can no longer function. “I don’t know if we’re going to have to stretcher somebody out,” says Synergy creative director Colin West.

Also at “The Fight Boys,” the Synergy Championship tournament continues as four local standouts meet in the semi-finals. The only two men to have an unblemished record in the promotion – KTB and Stevie Shields – will square off in what could possibly be Shields’ last match ever. “KTB is probably going to eat him,” West says.

However, in a month full of upsets, The Cinema could steal UMBC’s spotlight by slaying The Beast. “If Shields wins this match, no one will ever be able to question him ever again,” West says. “I don’t care what the fans think – I love him to death. I think he’s obnoxious and wonderful because I’m obnoxious and wonderful.”

In other semi-final action, the “Bad Apple” Matt Macintosh faces his toughest challenge to date: “The Bulldozer” Matt Tremont. After weaseling his way out of his scheduled first-round match with Jeff Cannonball, filing a restraining order that prevented Cannonball from competing in the tournament, Macintosh went on to defeat Tyler Nitro in the latter’s second match that evening. Meanwhile, Tremont pulled off the incredible feat of besting Myke Quest in Quest’s hometown.

The winners of those two bouts will meet in the finals on May 26 to crown the inaugural Synergy Pro Wrestling Champion. West says the title belt is being crafted by Wildkat Championship Belts and will be unveiled at the finals.

Speaking of titles, there will be a triple threat at “The Fight Boys” to name the Jersey All Pro Wrestling Light Heavyweight Champion’s next challenger. All three participants have an added motive in facing Archadia, who has held the title since November 2016: Tyler Nitro views him as a role model, having watched him revolutionize the division. Joey Adams was mentored by Arcadia and then bit the hand that fed him. Meanwhile, Mike Del is bitter that he isn’t in JPAW and believes he should have Archadia’s spot.

In other action, “2 Hot” Steve Scott will take on Kit Osbourne, and there will be a fatal four way between newcomer Brett Domino, the returning Isaiah Wolf, “Retrosexual” Anthony Greene and the “King of Chaos” Logan Black.

Fresh off his main event victory at CZW Proving Grounds, where he defeated Tremont in a Tangled Web match, Brandon Kirk looks to finally get a win over ring veteran Monsta Mack. While stuffing his face with a cheeseburger, Kirk showed no respect for Mack’s reputation, claiming he’s past his prime. Mack responded in cut-throat fashion.

As per Synergy tradition, there will be fan surveys handed out after the event. Feedback has been positive so far, West says, and management has already made plans to give fans what they want. Case in point, West says there will be women’s matches within the next few months. “From the beginning, we wanted to have storylines last from show to show,” he says. “If you only have one women’s match each show, it’s very difficult to keep things fresh. We really want to build storylines out for these characters.”

In addition, there will be two names introduced as part of the full-time roster starting May 26. For right now, West has hinted that one is an active Ring of Honor star and the other is a former WWE and WCW champion.

Both names will be revealed at “The Fight Boys.”

Synergy Pro Wrestling’s “The Fight Boys” takes place Mar. 24 at the Manville-Hillsborough Elks BPOE 2119 in Hillsborough, NJ.
