Top 10 WWE Video Game Soundtracks

Dig dig diggity, dig diggity dog!

Anticipation is building for WWE 2K22, the company’s long-awaited effort in cleansing our palette from the abomination known as WWE 2K20. (We’re also salivating over AEW’s first video game, but that’s a story for another day.) With not many details currently available, let’s look back on the greatest WWE video game soundtracks.

10. WWE 2K17

Radio Los Santos (GTA V radio station) is better than this crap. Here’s some free advice: try to get people who actually listen to music to come up with the soundtrack. If you ever unmuted the TV when playing WWE 2K17, the song “Lockjaw” by French Montana is a song about your jaw locking from drug use. Uh, what does that have to do with anything going on in WWE circa 2016?

9. SmackDown vs. RAW 2009

Egypt Central’s back is aching. This soundtrack is wearisome except for when “Taking You Down” plays. The song fits perfectly within the confines of a pro wrestling video game, compelling the player to rage.

8. WWE 2K18

Believe it or not, The Rock curated the soundtrack for WWE 2K18. That brings a mixture of genres, such as the Blues Brothers, Eazy-E and Disturbed. One of the best features of the game is you can choose which song you want to hear. Maybe WWE should let one legend choose the soundtrack of each game. I bet Steve Austin has some groovy hits.

7. WWF No Mercy

Okay, I know there aren’t any actual songs, but you have to admit the soundtrack was catchy as hell. Dig dig diggity, dig diggity dog!

6. WWE 2K19

I love the fact that “Ric Flair Drip” is included – smart marketing move. Don’t forget songs from Post Malone, Migos and Fall Out Boy. Wait, what if the soundtrack for AEW’s upcoming video game consisted of solely songs referencing wrestlers? That could be fun.

5. WWE 2K16

With a sweet transition from rebel rock to modern hip hop, this soundtrack suits fans of all genres. With Stone Cold on the cover, this would have been perfect for him to choose the playlist. But “Rebel Yell” is right on the nose for the “Texas Rattlesnake,” oh hell yeah.

4. SmackDown vs. RAW 2008

The playlist strikes with a heavy pulse. Whether it’s “Famous,” “Well Enough Alone” or “Everybody Down,” the energy never drops. With ECW characters added to the options, maybe WWE should have spent some dough on the classic themes, especially “Enter Sandman.”

3. SmackDown vs. RAW 2006

With the first version of GM Mode featured in this game, we spent a lot of time listening to the soundtrack. Thankfully, it rocked. Bumpy Knuckles’ “You Don’t War” and Poet’s “Crush Kill Destroy” have been etched into my brain, and I’ll still hum them every now and then.

2. SmackDown vs. RAW

“Falling Apart” is this game’s primary tune – it’s a banger. Don’t worry if the song ends because there are plenty of other heavy hitters like “Alone,” “When Worlds Collide” and “Riot Time.” If you want, just leave your game on the menu screen and enjoy great music.

1. SmackDown vs. RAW 2007

Here’s the top of the list of the greatest WWE video game soundtracks. It’s extremely challenging to dislike a song on this impeccable soundtrack with Three Days Grace, Black Stone Cherry, Ghostface Killah and more. Every song meant a fight, altercation or donnybrook. Wrestling video games need heavy tracks of alternative rock, and this game delivered.
