Ashley D’Amboise Enters Women’s Super 8

The tournament takes place July 31.

The Wrestling Estate has learned the second name slated for the 2021 ECWA Women’s Super 8.

Ashley D’Amboise is scheduled for the one-night tournament on July 31 at The Monster Factory in Paulsboro, NJ. She’ll join Gabby Ortiz in the tourney.

By the time the Women’s Super 8 takes place in July, Ashley D’Amboise will be only three months removed from her professional wrestling debut. A student of Damian Adams (who trained Deonna Purrazzo), the Florida native has an extensive fitness background, becoming a professional dancer, yoga teacher and competitive bodybuilder before entering the squared circle. She’s wasted no time getting noticed in the ring, having already faced Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford and Nyla Rose in AEW.

“Being in this year’s Women’s Super 8 tournament is an honor,” Ashley D’Amboise told The Wrestling Estate. “I know women before me on Team Adams have fought their hardest to make it to this tournament, so it’s truly a privilege. I’m excited to get out there and experience this competition for the first time.”

The ECWA Women’s Super 8 (originally called the Super 8 ChickFight) began in 2014 as an extension of the historic Super 8, the longest-running pro wrestling tournament in the United States. Similar to the men’s version, the women’s tournament has become a launching pad for undiscovered, up-and-coming talents to get noticed throughout the industry. Tessa Blanchard, the first winner, and Deonna Purrazzo, the only back-to-back winner, have gone on to Impact Wrestling, and McKay has been signed by Ring of Honor. Previous participants have included Britt Baker, Kiera Hogan, Maria Manic, Santana Garrett, among other notable names.

“We missed 2018 and 2020 with COVID, but we are back on track for the sixth edition,” says ECWA owner Joe Zanolle. “We just celebrated the 25th edition for the men and we are looking forward to building that long legacy with the women. Look at the talent of the first five Women’s Super 8s. That is the quality and young talent you will see this year. We are so glad to showcase these women competitors who work just as hard as the men. And you will not be seeing Divas, but trained and skilled professional wrestlers and athletes.”

The commentary team for this year’s ECWA Women’s Super 8 will be Brady Hicks and A Very Good Professional Wrestler, winner of the 2020 Super 8. The event will stream live on IWTV and a limited number of tickets are available now.
