PWE Rocks PhilaMOCA, New Champion Crowned

PWE promoter Erik Viking called it the greatest show in company history.

The stars aligned for Bobby Dempsey at Pro Wrestling Explosion’s “Galactic Resolution.”

Moments before PWE Champion Alex Payne was set to defend the title against “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams, company owner Erik Viking announced that Williams had recently suffered a groin injury , and was unable to compete. His replacement would be a man that helped set up the ring for PWE’s first show, a locker room leader and somebody that just so happened to be backstage despite not having an opponent.

Big, bad Bobby Dempsey marched to the ring to a thunderous ovation from the sold out crowd at the PhilaMOCA in Philadelphia. At least 80 fans were packed inside the intimate venue, rubbing shoulders with several wrestlers as they all rooted on the heart and soul of PWE. Dempsey instantly overpowered the champion, rocking him with closelines and an exploder suplex. Payne curbed the momentum by attacking Dempsey’s knee, taking the big man off his feet. The champion followed up by dissecting Dempsey’s leg, smashing his knee into the mat and applying an inverted Indian deathlock. It seemed as if the challenger was going to submit, but the rabid crowd rallied Dempsey to the ropes.

Eventually they made it to their feet with Dempsey getting the better hand. As the adrenaline rushed through his veins, Dempsey hit a running cannonball into Payne in the corner of the ring, and followed up with a Death Valley Driver for the victory.

The roster rushed the ring in celebration as Dempsey ended Payne’s two-year reign of terror as PWE Champion. Viking declared the evening as the greatest show in the company’s nearly three-year history.

After TJ Crawford pledged to leave the beach and break out onto his own path, the ex-partners faced each other for the first time. Fellow Beach Bum Brody volunteered to be the special guest referee, which Flamingo would surely regret. After a thrilling back-and-forth battle, Crawford grabbed the magic conch and attempted to crack his former friend in the head. Brody snatched the conch out of Crawford’s hands, and then shocked the crowd by bashing Flamingo. Seemingly just as surprised as everyone else, Crawford slowly made his way to Flamingo for the pin.

Accompanied by his Platinum Hunnies, Greene took advantage of their mesmerizing beauty by having them seduce Yohan via double lap dance, allowing Greene to superkick the dazed yodeler for the win. Afterward, Greene invited a fan that Yohan scolded into the ring to do the honors of shaving Yohan’s whiskers.

Earlier in the night, Joe Gacy and Jimmy Rave brawled all over the PhilaMOCA, taking the action into the audience and up the steps into the balcony. Gacy threatened to toss Rave off a la Mick Foley and the Cell, but Rave managed to sneak away. Gacy caught him with a superkick down the steps, though.
