ECWA Ends 2019 With Charity, Champions

Bring a new, unwrapped toy to ECWA Toys For Tots.

After one of the most turbulent years in the history of ECWA, all owner Mike Tartaglia wants for Christmas is to rid the PCA of gold.

His wish may come true this Saturday in New Castle, DE, as ECWA Heavyweight Champion Joey Ace defends against Ricky Martinez. Martinez has already pinned the champion – in a three-on-four handicap match at Witching Hour in October. The former ECWA Heavyweight Champion, as well as former ECWA Mid-Atlantic Champion, is looking to continue his triumphant return by dethroning the Five-Starr Studd and striking a fatal blow to the PCA’s stranglehold on what has been described as the longest-running independent promotion in the United States.

Tartaglia has already been successful in stripping the PCA of the Mid-Atlantic Title, which has incensed PCA kingpin AJ Pan.

The first round of a tournament to crown a new Mid-Atlantic Champion kicked off at Witching Hour as Killian McMurphy outwrestled Eric Martin and Tahir James overcame Violence, thanks to a distraction by Chris Wylde. The tournament will continue this Saturday at ECWA Toys For Tots as Napalm Bomb, winner of the 2016 Super 8, takes on Rey Calitri of the PCA. Also in tourney action, original PCA member Sam Shields, who returned to the notorious faction at Witching Hour, faces J George.

The winners of those two matches will advance to the semifinals and face each other on January 18. The finals of the tournament will also take place that same night.

As mentioned earlier, Wylde and Violence will look to settle their beef in a “Nightmare Before Christmas” chain match. They first met at the ECWA 52nd Anniversary Show, in which Violence made quite a first impression, blasting Wylde with his chain to get disqualified. Violence struck again the next month, costing Wylde a match against newcomer Nikos Rikos. Wylde got a taste of revenge later that night, and will look to finish off the masked madman this Saturday at ECWA Toys For Tots.

Perhaps the most popular duo in ECWA, Funky White Boy and Marcus Waters will be celebrating a remarkable reign as Tag Team Champions that has lasted over a year. Former foes turned unlikely bedfellows, Delaware’s Finest has turned back the challenges of a variety of opponents, such as Primal Fear, Sons of Savagery and Nick Curry & Vinny Talotta. They overcame their toughest challenge in October, defeating Unstable in a brutal Texas Tornado match. Now they face the powerful force known as Black Wall$treet, comprised of Drolix and Chuck Lennox. An experienced and highly decorated team from Maryland, they’ll be gunning for the champions at ECWA Toys For Tots.

“Black Wall$treet are no pushovers – they’re the real deal,” Water told The Wrestling Estate. “We’ve been so successful because we have the ECWA faithful behind us. We’re not trying to let them down. There’s strength in numbers. They give us an extra boost to get us over the hump.”

All fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy as part of ECWA partnering with Toys For Tots.

ECWA Toys For Tots takes place Saturday, December 7, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, Delaware.
