ECWA Celebrates 51st Anniversary

A triple threat championship match headlines the show in Delaware.

We were left with more questions than answers at ECWA’s last event, as the PCA civil war was interrupted by a man without an army.

As ECWA Heavyweight Champion Mike Law battled former champion (and current teammate) Azrieal, with their manager AJ Pan showing no signs of favoritism at ringside, Ty Awesome made his presence felt, leaping from the top rope and splashing onto all three. It was an act of revenge for the popular upstart, who was severely injured in a triple threat with the PCA members the month before. Due to Awesome’s interference, the referee had no choice but to rule the bout as a no contest.

Well, this Saturday in Delaware, those three combatants will wage war once again. Law defends his title against Azrieal and Awesome in the main event of the ECWA 51st Anniversary Show. Since stealing the spotlight at the Super 8 tournament in April, Awesome has been riding a huge wave of momentum, most recently picking up a win over “Retrosexual” Anthony Greene. And as the champion can attest, tensions are still brewing between him and his former friend.

ECWA Mid-Atlantic Champion Joe Gacy will also be looking for revenge as faces the man who cost him the heavyweight title, Joey Ace. The 5 Starr Studd is the newest member of the PCA, with the perks to prove it: his in-ring debut is a championship match.

The Tag Team Titles will be on the line as well, as One Mean Team defends against longtime best buddies Ricky Martinez and Kekoa. One Mean Team won the titles back at ECWA Rock ‘N Wrestling in June, when Tahir James went it alone after his partner Frankie Pickard was unable to make the event due to traffic issues.

Miss Jasmine will have her hands full as fellow #DRAW member Adam Chandler goes one-on-one with Marcus Waters. It’s a battle between two of the company’s most powerful brutes: While Chandler is coming off a Super 8 battle royal victory and a hard-fought loss to Gacy, Waters has been picking up steam with a string of wins over Mr. Grim, Keegan Brettle and Vinny Talotta.

After five years in exile, Magnum returned to ECWA at the Super 8 battle royal, eliminating arch rival Mr. Ooh La La. In the months since then, Mr. Ooh La La has been dying to get his hands on Magnum. However, Magnum refused the match unless the ECWA veteran could defeat his hired hand, the monstrous Beefcake. It will be a tall task for the Frenchman, but if he can overcome the odds, he’ll get five minutes in the ring with Magnum.

It will also be a night of redemption for Sammi Pandora, who returned to ECWA in June after several years away. Unfortunately, her welcoming party was ECWA Women’s Champion Christina Marie, who forced Pandora into submission. This Saturday in Delaware, Pandora can avenge her loss when she takes on Gemma Cross.

Finally, one of the most popular grapplers in the Blue Hen State makes his ECWA debut, as Funky White Boy meets Rob Ziccardi aka Robbie Illuminati.

ECWA’s 51st Anniversary Show takes place Saturday, September 15, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, Delaware.
