A Star Was Born on Monday Night Rollins

WWE better not drop the ball after Seth Rollins’ incredible Raw performance.

FINALLY! Monday Night Raw was actually watchable this week.

The show started off with the seven man gauntlet match with all of the participants of the Men’s Elimination Chamber match. But the star of the show may have come out of left field.

No, it wasn’t Roman Reigns.

Nope, not Braun Strowman.

It wasn’t even my man, the MVP of WWE, the most must-see superstar in WWE history, The Miz.

The star of Raw this week was Seth Freaking Rollins.

Not only did he last over an hour in the gauntlet, he beat Reigns and John Cena in the same night. I’m going to repeat that for the people in the back.

HE BEAT ROMAN REIGNS AND JOHN CENA IN THE SAME NIGHT!!!

Just think about that for a second. Seth Rollins, who we all thought was going to be left in midcard obscurity with the on-screen loser that is Jason Jordan, goes out and defeats the current(ish) face of WWE in John Cena and the future(ish) face of WWE in Roman Reigns.

Was this bigger than Chris Jericho being Stone Cold and The Rock in one night back in 2001? Maybe not. But it still was a career-defining performance.

I’m not even sure WWE knows how monumental this can be. We all know Reigns is set to dethrone the Beast at WrestleMania and Cena is set to face The Undertaker in what may be Taker’s last match (who even fucking knows at this point). But where does this leave Seth?

If WWE doesn’t capitalize on the momentum Rollins has, then the powers-that-be are dumber than whoever the hell runs Impact these days.

But let’s look as Raw as a whole this week. We didn’t get any meaningless backstage promos that lead to a meaningless match. We didn’t get any Kurt Angle “office” segments where it looks like the Raw GM doesn’t even know what state he’s in. (Thanks concussions and pain pills.)

Also, we need to talk about Corey Graves’ triangle haircut. Did he dye it? Did he use extra gel?

Ok, back on track.

Overall, Raw was a total win this week, maybe the best episode of the year thus far. All thanks to amazing wrestling, Seth Rollins finally (?) becoming a main event player again, no meaningless Kurt Angle gibberish and the look on Miz’s face when he realized he has to face Strowman.

Priceless.
